EuroWindoor and Commission continue their positive dialog on the “Energy Balance” principle for windows

Frankfurt, November 2024 – EuroWindoor welcomed Pau Garcia Audi and Júlia Aguilera Jofre from the European Commission’s DG ENER as guests at its Directing Council meeting in Brussels to discuss about the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).

One important task for DG ENER is to publish a guidance for calculation of energy performance of transparent building elements. The meeting offered EuroWindoor the opportunity to inform the Commission from first-hand about the need to take solar gains into account in an Energy Balance when determining the energy efficiency of transparent construction products. EuroWindoor provided also information on the many benefits of windows for healthier buildings and addressed difficulties in implementation of EU-Taxonomy screening criteria for curtain walling.

After the Commission representatives departed, EuroWindoor continued its work program with focus on the new Construction Products Regulation, which has just been approved by the European Council and must now be implemented via new product standards. The meeting was highly productive, reinforcing EuroWindoor’s commitment to advancing energy-efficient building practices in Europe.
