EuroWindoor recommends manufacturers’ own databases to store future Digital Product Passports (DPP) for Construction Products

Frankfurt, December 2024 – EuroWindoor has submitted its feedback to the European Commission’s survey of the feasibility study on an EU database for Construction Products, emphasizing the importance of a balanced, effective, and inclusive system.

The EuroWindoor feedback supports that manufacturers or group of manufacturers shall maintain their own databases with appropriate data backup and does not believe in an economic solution when the European Commission or IT providers will do this. The EuroWindoor approach ensures data control, security and manageability for SMEs with regard to efforts and costs. It is emphasized that the system fulfills legal requirements, industry demands and practicality for manufacturers of all sizes.

During the careful analysis of the different options for the database, EuroWindoor found numerous unresolved issues regarding the future DPP under the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR). Further talks will be held to discuss a practical implementation and the EU Commission will also be approached in this regard.
